The Pitch Lake

What about a lake made up of pitch (also called asphalt – the stuff we pave roads with)?  

There are only three in the world. The Pitch Lake in La Brea is the largest in the world and holds about 10 million tonnes of asphalt.

Maracas Beach

Trinidad & Tobago have some beautiful beaches like this stunning beach on our North Coast.  

We go there for swimming, for relaxing (we call it ‘liming’), or for buying our famous Bake and Shark to eat.  

Caroni Swamp

The Caroni swamp is the 2nd largest mangrove swamp in Trinidad and Tobago. It is on the west coast of Trinidad, south of Port of Spain where the Caroni River meets the Gulf of Paria.

It is the home of Trinidad’s national bird.  What is the name of this red bird?  It’s the Scarlet Ibis

Nylon Pool in Tobago

Have you ever seen a swimming pool in the ocean?  We have one of those!  The Nylon Pool in Tobago is a natural, 1 metre-deep crystal clear pool with a sandy bottom in the middle of the sea.
